My Red Cross Initiative
Interpersonal 21st Century Skill
Description of Work/Assignment:
For my senior project I am working on several projects with the Red Cross for the benefit of the community. This includes a blood drive, vaccine drive, first aid trainings, and a few other projects as well.
Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
This project has been, and will be extremely collaborative throughout the whole process. To complete these projects, we have to partner with many different organizations and businesses. For this reason, I think the Interpersonal 21st Century Skill fits this example well.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
I am proud of the impact we are making on the community. There are many great senior project ideas, but the purpose of my project reaches out to many different communities and directly helps people in many different ways.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
I have never been a part of such a extensive and collaborative project, not even remotely. The closest thing I had done in this area was some small group projects in school, but my senior project is on a completely different level. I had never went out to organizations and business to talk to them about large skill projects, so this experience has greatly developed my interpersonal skills.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult thing about these projects is the vast amount of work that has to be put in to complete them on time. There is a lot to do, and not a lot of time, so we have to be very efficient and effective with our days.
How can you apply this to future learning?
My hope is that these set of projects will help me successful in my future career. I plan to go into business, so talking with organizations and businesses can hopeful give me an early look into what is to come.
