Which 21st Century Skill do you feel this assignment addresses, and why?
I feel as if this project is best represented by the Information 21st Century Skill. The main reason for this is because of the literary analysis that is so prominent in this project. Not only that, but we had to incorporate the information we gathered into an essay as well. All of this had to be done in a certain timeframe, so I had to apply efficient research strategies to get everything done. Lastly, this was all done using technology, so overall, this project covers almost every area within the Information 21st Century Skill.
What are you most proud of from this assignment, and why?
The thing I am the most proud of is the depth I went in for my essay. I not only explained the summarized history of the heliocentric view, but I believe I was able to thoroughly explain how the information applied to the question “How and Why Do Individuals Change Their Minds.
How did you develop and/or improve upon your 21st Century Skill with this assignment?
This was one of the first essays I had written with such an analytical question given beforehand. Because of this, I had to approach this assignment differently than other written papers, and gaining that experience definitely helped me develop my Information 21st Century Skill.
What was most difficult about completing this task?
The most difficult thing about this assignment was incorporating the answer to “How and Why Do Individuals Change Their Minds” into my essay after explaining the history of the heliocentric view. Eventually though, I was able to find a way to smoothly transition to that question.
How could you improve this work? If you could start over, what would you do different?
The biggest thing I would do differently would be to go into more depth for certain parts of the historical explanation. I don’t think that my summarization was bad, but adding additional information to it could have really elevated it to the next level.
How does this relate to what you have learned in the past?
I had plenty of essays in the past that have been similar, but this assignment definitely presented a new idea. Other essays that I have written that answered questions were pretty straight forward, but this one had a much more general question. This honestly made it harder, but it was definitely good practice for deeper analysis.
How can you apply this to future learning?
Being able to analyze information and apply it effectively will be a critical skill that I’ll need in my future, and this assignment had me exercise this skill. Also, essay writing practice will always be useful, especially for my future college career.
